RCA- BG- Some of the things we struggle with as darker skin girls, is accepting ourselves for who we are. It is no different than saying some whites people are prejudice against you because you are black. But what's worst is when black people treat you badly also, because you have darker skin than they do.
What is a girl to do?
First we must learn to recognize the values of being you, regardless of your skin tone. And that all begins with you!
As a darker skin black girl, I have experience the hurt of being darker skin. It was hard listening to others, friends, relatives, even by standers talk about how pretty some girls are just based on their lighter skin tone. There are some steps to take to overcome the negative stigma that has been placed on darker skin girls/women.
It took me awhile to get over the nappy hair, and not just nappy, but short and nappy hair. Because for some reason , if you were dark skin and had short nappy hair that particular look was held against you too. So how do we confront this prejudice in a good and healthy way?
